FreeLy 2009 Text Tournament
Sign-up Rules
Tournament start
date: June 29th 2009
RULES
- Number of members:
32-64 members. If more than 64, then 30 post count requirement.
- No-Show:
Automatic DQ.
- Line count:
All rounds 16 minimum, 24 maximum lines. 1 BAR = 2 LINES
- Layout:
Traditional bracket style based on entering all-time power rank.
- Ranked Seedings: All-Time Power > All-Time Standard > Quarterly
Power > Quarterly Standard
- Unranked Seeding:
If un-ranked, you are seeded lower than ranked members.
- Brackets and threads: They will be created by June 28, 2009.
- Elimination:
Single elimination! You lose, you are out! No consolation bracket.
- Posting verses:
There will be no extra comments, replies, or feedback from members or
participants. Only post your battle rhyme in the tournament forum.
- Voted verses:
Judges’ votes and comments will be posted anonymously.
- Monitored voting: No vote will go unseen. Hate/Team/Ride votes are
unacceptable and subject to strict penalty.
- Sportsmanship:
Bad sportsmanship will not be tolerated. You will be banned from all
future tournaments or possibly removed from the site if you are one of
these rule breakers.
- “Flipping”:
IS ALLOWED, but do not wait for your opponent to post because you may run
out of time; hence, you will forfeit the battle.
- “Stretching”: excessive/blatant stretching of
lines/bars will result in DQ. A
combination of word count and line count will be used to just obvious
cases only.
- Setup/Format:
the tournament will have its own forum and each round will be set up in
this forum (Tournaments) under a new thread with the subject “Round:
Your name vs. Your opponent.” There will be posts on the site when
each round is setup. It’s important to remember that once the thread
is setup, you only have 24 hours to reply (unless otherwise stated) to
that thread with your freestyle battle rhyme. Contestants simply
post their freestyle within the given time limit to the topic created. Each contestant posts 1 rhyme; any additional
posts will be deleted and not considered. If you experience a
problem, PM an admin/mod/com member. Do NOT wait until the last
minute or passed the deadline.
- Private messaged verses: No one but you are responsible for posting
verses. If you elect to PM someone and they post your verse that’s
fine. BUT DO NOT RELY ON THEM TO POST. You are responsible for
making sure your verse is posted on time—not the person you PM, e-mail,
etc…
- Due Dates:
They will be posted accordingly by threads in the tournament forum.
Both member posts are due at exactly the same time, but it’s encouraged to
post earlier to meet deadlines.
There are no check-ins, extended time limits, etc… No battles will be due
on July 04, 2009.
- Time Limits:
Each contestant has 24 hours, no exceptions whatsoever. There
are absolutely no exceptions to this rule! If you experience a
problem posting at 11:59 and the verse is due at 12:00, that’s your
problem, so do not wait until the last minute. Failure to reply
within the time limit results in an automatic forfeit/DQ.
- Time Zones:
All time limit due date/time are based in Eastern Standard Time
(E.S.T.); you’re responsible for knowing what your time zone
translates to in E.S.T. and making sure your
forum clock settings are correct.
- Free-Posting/Spamming/Flaming/Etc: This is your only warning. Ranking points
will be deducted each time a member excessively breaks this rule or any of
the preceding rules pertaining to irrelevant posts. If you are a member in the tournament doing this
type of posting excessively, you will be DQ’d.
- Controversy: This
usually arises from above, but do not accuse or create drama. If
there is a legit issue, questionable posts, or potential bites, PM AN
ADMIN… do not post in threads.
- Biting: 1 line or a few words is not a
bite! Biting or excessive recycling
will result in permanent ban from BrickCity.net. If you suspect a
bite, contact an admin immediately.
- Follow Site Rules!
IF YOU ARE STILL TOO NEW TO UNDERSTAND SITE RULES, SITE RULES; HOUSE
RULES.
