New Member Introductions
-=ALL MEMBERS; Especially New Member Introductions=-
|
Welcome to Brick
City's Freestyle Online. It's important to understand the rules and to
grasp the basic concepts of the website, so take the time to read this
information; otherwise, your posts will be deleted if they are not
formatted correctly. We're not here to baby-sit people; and if you have
taken the time to sign up, then surely you can take the time to
understand the fundamentals of the site. Most importantly, have some
fun. When you register an account, these guidelines are evident;
however, few take to time to actually read, apply, or abide by the
rules. Let me re-enlighten you.
It’s important to pay
attention and respect members, admins, moderators, and each other.
Remember this simple fact. This site is hosted by the administrators,
paid for by the administrators, maintained by the administrators, and is
in operation and privileged by the administrators. Moderators are
equally important and dedicated to the success of this website. Most
importantly, members are what drive the site; membership is Brick City…
have fun and respect each other!
1.
Members will
not in any way deface Brick City.
2.
Member opinion
is important; however, any member who personally assaults any
administrator, moderator, or member will be penalized temporarily and/or
permanently, period.
Racial comments
are prohibited.
3.
Member posts
will be deleted if wrongly out of place, period.
4.
Members who do
not agree with these rules and do not respect them, see rule 2.
5.
Brick
City is “All – 4 – Fun,” anything outside these lines will be
immediately up for review and/or deletion.
6.
Brick
City is operational due to the dedication of many individuals;
therefore, it is a privilege to be a member and have these services
provided free. Each administrator and moderator will be treated
equally. Members, who do not respect this privilege, see rule 2.
7.
If concerns,
problems, or any abuse arise, it is the administrators' and/or
moderators’ job to resolve the issue, not the member; unless the problem
can be solved in a non-personal/non-discriminatory fashion that doesn't
affect the site.
8.
There are
appropriate ways to contact administrators or moderators if you have any
concerns, suggestions, or questions you would like to voice; not in the
freestyle forums.
The forums are
clearly labeled and provide rules that explain how to post, where to
post, etc…
10.
Newly
registered members cannot call out advanced users; they can only battle
new members unless an advanced member requests to battle you as a
newbie.
11.
You can become
an advanced member and post in the advanced member forums once you reach
Junior Varsity Freestyle Poster status.
12.
To find
members to battle or to create a battle, post a request in the New
Member Battle Requests forum. The guidelines are clearly explained
in this forum.
13.
Once the
battle rules are accepted by the challenged member, then you post the
accepted battle in the New Member Freestyle Battle / Accepted
Requests. Once again, the format for setting up accepted challenges
is posted in this forum.
14.
Battles will
not count on your ranking until you become an ADVANCED MEMBER. Advanced
Member Battles are based on a point system formula; therefore, battle
records and points are kept throughout each quarter. To get points,
obviously, you need to win battles. Each quarter of the year, every
member begins with an equal score. To see the rankings, visit
www.brickcity.net/rankings.asp.
15.
Brick City
members who do not wish to battle should feel free to post in other
forums throughout the site they have access to such as the Poetry
Section forum and the General Messages forum. New members
have view-access to all non-administrative forums, but can only post in
the new members section of the site.
16.
If you have
any questions or problems, contact the administrators, moderators, ask
other members, or post in the Questions? Answers! forum. Basically you
follow the rules at the top of each forum. One can easily grasp the
posting concepts by following those posts previously created.
17. Advertising for another website is prohibited on
BrickCity.net.
18. Stealing lyrics,
music, or any copywritten material from BC or anywhere on the
Internet is subject to temp and/or perm ban, reset records, rank, and
post counts.... no exceptions!
The 3 site administrators consist of the following:

New Member Battles
-=New Member Battle Requests - How to request a battle=-
-
To request a battle or to call someone out to
battle that is also a new member, you post a message in the
New Member
Battle Requests forum.
-
If you set up a battle yourself, clearly label
the topic.
-
Before setting the battle up in the Accepted
Requests, both battling members must establish and agree upon the
rules of the battle which should be included in your call out post
in this forum; there are no exceptions to this whatsoever.
-
Once the rules have been established and agreed
upon, post in the
New Member
Freestyle Battle / Accepted Requests forum.
-
Clearly label the new topic; you vs. your
opponent. For example, nukedogg vs. cizzal
-
Specify the agreed upon line perimeter (i.e.,
16 lines)
-
Specify voting credentials; how many votes are
you looking for; consider the following:
-
5 Votes
(First 5)
-
Set specific
rules. I.e., 3 votes to 0 = skunk
-
Can’t vote on
yourself
-
No team
member votes are accepted.
-
Set the time
limit
-
Members must
have at least 15 votes to vote
-
At least one
admin/moderator/legend/500+ member vote
This type of format should be presented in this forum as well as
re-posted in the accepted forum, so that voters, admins, etc., know what
the battle consists of, how to vote, when to post, etc... so post your
battle request information in both forums as the example shows below.
Here’s an example of a format similar to what you should
use:
Subject: Nukedogg vs. Cizzal
Message:
ú
10-15 lines
ú
15
posts to vote
ú
You spit first
ú
I
wont flip
ú
First to 5 votes 3-0 skunk
ú

ú

hate/team votes
Voting
-
To vote on new member battles, you must have at
least 15 posts. So members who are eligible, vote who you think the
winner of the battle is by replying to the battle.
-
Clearly post who you think won and a brief
description of why you think they won.
-
Criticism is important; however, minimize the
negative feedback and do not disrespect the members battling,
voting, or your opponent.
-
Only one post is necessary for your vote and to
provide your feedback; multiple posts will be deleted.
-
Multiple posting is known as spamming to
increase your post count. If you are found spamming, your post
count and member status will be reset.
-
There should be 1 post for the accepted rules
and 2 freestyle posts, one by each contestant.
-
The posts after that will consist of the number
of votes according to your rules.
-
Any extra posts will be deleted.
-
Once the battle has concluded, any posts out of
place thereafter will be deleted.
Rankings - NEW MEMBER BATTLES ARE UNRANKED!
New
member battles do not count on your ranking.
-
New members have the ability to join the list
of ranks by winning battles and advancing their title status to
Junior Varsity Poster which gives you the ability to post in the
advanced member forums.
-
New member battles are to establish an
understanding of how battles work, so that when you do make it to
the advanced forums you understand how battles work.
-
If you lose your first 5 battles before ever
winning in the advanced forums, your post count, record, and rank
will be reset and you will have to once again advance through the
new member system.
Once you
advance to the advanced member forums, ranked people will battle other
members giving them a chance to lose/gain ranks. Also, monthly, we’ll
post these
rankings as
well as wins and losses; giving members an inspiration to battle and/or
improve their record and gain ranking. Therefore, ranked members cannot
sit on their rank. Once you move up on the ranking list and gain higher
member status through post ranks, you can battle more advanced users.
Then, for example, if someone believes that a number one or two ranked
person is not worthy, then these people will get a chance to prove
that. However, battles will be setup realistically; twenty people can
try to knock off #1, #2, etc... For obvious reasons, there will be a
limited number of battles that can be requested.
There is
a new forum, New Members Battle Requests, so that new
members that want to request a battle can post their requests. If other
members do not want to battle, do not hassle them. If you don't want to
battle, continue using the other aspects of the site as mentioned
previously.
These rankings will not be word of mouth or opinion; they’re based on
results from past tournaments, progressing freestylers, and member wins
and losses. The mindset is that the ranking system will get more members
to advance and moderators and administrators involved which provides
motivation to post, vote, and fend for your ranking position.
If
administrators/moderators find that members are losing excessively and
are not fit/ready for advanced forums, your post count will be reset, so
that you have to battle in the newbie forums to get better.
If
any of your lyrics are stolen, re-used/recycled, or copyright and
found on BC from anywhere on the Internet, you will be banned from Brick
City, your post count will be reset, and your record and rank will be
reset.

New Member Battle Forum Rules- =
-
This is the battle forum, not a message board.
-
If we see any messages or “Chat room threads”
they will be removed, and the person who started the thread will be
warned the first time.
-
If it continues to happen the member will be
removed.
-
We do this because when we do rankings, we have
to tally up all the battles' votes.
-
If the forum is flooded with posts other then
votes, it takes a great deal of time to tally. If we suffer then the
site suffers; therefore, to avoid suffer altogether, you have to
abide by the rules.
= -
Forum Flooding/Spamming - =
Do not
flood/spam forums, period.
-
We have said something to the members that were
doing it but we will now make it public. Example name ~> "Shezzy"
responds to posts written months ago, trying to build up their
ranking posts.
-
Doing this will not gain you respect and get
you into the advanced forums because your posts will be deleted.
-
Basically, you would just be wasting your time,
our time, and the site’s time altogether.
-
For reasons of flooding and increased
membership, we have decided to create the new member forums.
-
All the newer posts were getting bumped down
because some asshole wants to build up their ranking or members
didn’t understand where to post. This will no longer happen, we’ll
administer this accordingly.
-
If we find flooding is still a problem, we will
temporarily suspend the account and limit the amount of times you’re
allowed to post daily.
= -
Multiple fake alter egos - =
-
Okay there is no rule against that but don’t
you think it’s pretty pathetic that you have to make up to 10 fake
names.
-
If you are a banned member and we find out,
we’ll just ban you again. You’ll just be wasting everyone’s time.
-
Now with the new forums it’s pointless to do
this; hence, you won’t be able to call out advanced members or post
in other non-new member forums as a new member.
= -
Voting - =
-
Some of you people take these battles a bit too
seriously and you complain, or try to persuade members to vote on
you through bitching, hate votes, sorrow, votes in exchange, etc...
-
Starting NOW if we hear any
complaints about a member calling out or partaking in these vote
persuasions to another member, they will be banned for all future
battles.
-
This goes to everyone no matter who you
are. This applies throughout so it’s not just with newbies.
-
Legends, vets, and whoever else are included.
NEW MINIMUM FOR NEW MEMBERS TO VOTE IN THE NEW MEMBER FORUMS... 15
posts to vote NO LOWER.
-
Any post counts greater than 15 can vote, but
the minimum is 15 posts to vote as a new member, no questions asked.
As we’ve said before, the rules are fairly clear and if you don’t get
them you can always use an example. Here is a good example of how a
battle should be formatted. NO bullshit, just free's then votes:

-
Set the time limit
So members
who are eligable, vote who you think the winner of the battle is by
replying to the battle.
Since
members and administrators cannot agree on rankings, this new system
has been implimented. There have been two tournaments on BrickCity.
Therefore, we're taking the top finishers and rank them in a legitimate
order accordingly, so that an accurate ranking system can exist (Many
can argue that this system is not necessarily based on skill; just top
finishes. That’s fine). The first tournament will take precedence over
the second meaning that the winner of the first tournament will be
ranked #1 whereas the winner of the second tournament will be ranked #2
and on down the line.
With this
new system, ranked people will battle other members giving them a chance
to lose/gain ranks. Also, monthly, we’ll post these rankings as well as
wins and losses; giving members an inspiration to battle and/or improve
their record and gain ranking. Therefore, ranked members cannot sit on
their rank. If someone believes that a number one ranked person is not
worthy, then these people will get a chance to prove that. However,
battles will be setup realistically; twenty people can try to knock off
#1. For obvious reasons, there will be a limited number of battles
that can be requested. There is a new forum, Battle Requests, so that
people that want to request a battle can post their requests. If
members do not want to battle, continue posting in the freestyle forum.
These rankings will not be word of mouth or opinion; they’re based on
results from past tournaments and progressing freestylers. The mindset
is that this new system will get more members and administrators
involved and provide motivation to post and fend for their position.
If you have been found stealing, copying, or using lyrics or copyright
material from anywhere on BC or the Internet, you will be banned, your
post count reset, and your record and ranks reset.
All requests,
challenges, or misc. battles messages should be made here. Request the
person (names should be spelled
CORRECTLY) you want to battle, and the rules. When/if they
accept, then set up the battle in the
Freestyle Battle / Accepted Challanges
with the:
Subject
Topic Title example:
You and the person
you're facing
and/if
rank ->
NukeDogg
(6)
Vs. Whitelines
(7)
Message
Body example:
Set the rules for
the requested battle ->
Example:
15LINES MIM
35LINES MAX
7 VOTES
4-0 SKUNK
125POST
NO TEAM VOTES
Then post your
freestyles ->
Then people will vote ->
All unnecessary
messages in the battle forum will be warned. Continued incompetence
will result in deletion of those out of place messages. If you notice
in the battle forum, most of you post twice anyway leaving about half
the messages simply message and not battles. So all those requests come
here and ONLY
battles in the Battle Forum.
NEW MINIMUM...
75 posts to vote
NO LOWER on EVERY battle, even if its not posted. You may upp to 75+ if
you like but the minimum is 75 posts to vote, no questions asked.
Refrain
from posting battle requests in the battle forum. Post them in this
forum from now on. Thank You.
HERE is a good example... a
set up battle and an acceptance.
http://www.brickcity.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6236& PN=2
If any of
your lyrics are stolen, re-used/recycled, or copyright and found on
BC from anywhere on the Internet, you will be banned from Brick City,
your post count will be reset, and your record and rank will be reset.

As of June 2, 2005, there is a new ranking system that keeps rankings
up-to-date within at least 3 days (give or take). These rankings are
